In fairness Nick it does state that word "hope", there had been a plan for a few years to rescue it but it only takes one person to dive in feet first.
No probs Peter, only a minor distance between the two. Maybe try the Vintage Carriage Trust website to see if either have gone from Llynclys?

    Hello,
Done my usual searching and via the GWREightonethree F/B platform found this:

    http://www.newportsaloon.moonfruit.com/home/4585094845

Some effort has been put into restoring this coach.

Will keep a beady eye open along with keeping a beady eye on several other ex GWR coaches.

Hi all, I have seen the website for the GWR 231 project was posted some time back. I imagine some of you are wondering how we are getting on with the project. If you are the new link is: www.newportsaloon.yolasite.com

Still work in progress, with the Flickr account not up and running yet.

    Thanks

Do you have a Funding Stream? Conservative estimates were in the region of £100k to £150k to restore the Coach to a professional standard.
Is it good practice to paint wet wood?
I wish you luck, lots and lots of it.

Hi Nick, i couldn't comment myself in terms of funding for the project. I dont deal with that department of things myself. I know things have been added up and prices worked out :) As for the comment about painting the wet wood, the photos are from two seperate days. Just used them both to compare. Believe it or not its always cloudy in Blaenavon haha! Paint was applied when the bits that were painted were dry.

As far as i know, i should be fitting some more tarpoulin to the coach over the next few weeks. Aim is to get what we still have watertight as it gets very rough in Blaenavon in the winter. Hence why the old tarp was ruined.

Will keep the website updated :)
