Sorry I don't know, I just happened to see 80072 in passing.

When I spoke to some fellas at the Spring Gala they seemed pretty clear that Foxcote has a long way to go - firebox trouble I seem to recall. 6430 is expected back soon though.

You won't see 6430 this year & maybe not even next year.

Spoke to the membership secretary of 7822, who was driving 3802 a week last Saturday, and clearly stated that Foxcote Manor won't be ready in time for the Steam Gala on 29th-31st August. His fireman, who is also a full time engineer at the Llangollen Railway workshops double confirmed this. :(

Has the new throat plate arrived for Foxy yet? I did hear that it was to come back on the same lorry as 45551 at the start of June. But 45551 is not returning to llan now untill after the Tyseley open day. So did this get sent on its own or still waiting to catch a lift with 45551?

You could ask someone from the engineering department for permission to have a look. Don't expect to see much, as it's just 4 wheelsets & the adjacent section of main frames.

All I spotted tonight was a full skip in the carpark. Wheel sets in the carpark also, ready to go to whichever loco group is having them.

Perhaps we should check facebook for a 2861 rebuild project!

I know people at Llan probably have better things to do, but it would be great to get an update on the status of the various resident loco restorations (new-builds aside), e.g. the panniers, small prairies, etc.

From what i understand from conversations with people at Llan.

80072. Back working after the issues with the copper stays. Although it was mentioned that if any more issues arrise then it would have to be a whole bolier out job.
3802 is in working condition but i believe its boiler ticket runs out next year? Not sure who owns the loco and weather it will be overhauled?
7822 is having the boiler worked on and will be back end of this start of next year and re painted into black rather than the blue that was mentioned. But will have a whole new 10 year ticket once complete.
5199 isnt far off now. Looking forward to seeing her in steam now.
45337/5337 is now based at Llan and will be there until the end of the year at least. Possible re paint into Lms Black in october.
6430 is under overhaul. It was mentioned that it would be completed early ish next year but im unsure if this is still the case with all the work on the 7822 and 80072?
7754 had a bequest that will see work on its rolling chassis but im unsure if a full overhaul is planned?? It would be great if it was as it a loco i cant remember in steam.

I heard a rumour that both of the small praries were being moved out of the shed but i dont know if thats true or not. The one owned by Hugh Shipton has been taking a back seat while 6430 (also owned by him) is overhauled. Obviously with the 4th newbuild arriving soon in the B17 they need the space for paying contracts. So im presuming any loco that isnt actually being worked on by Llan will have to move out as and when The paid jobs arrive. I dont know how this effects the newbuilds as quite often a large amount of work arrives then they go quiet while funding for the next part.
45551 when it returns will have the inside cylinder fitted and once that is complete there will be both outside cylinders which will have been machined at that point, motion brackets, motion girders. We also hope to have the front bogie completed by the end of march but that all depends on the second wheel set returning from turkey and i dont know if there has been any more info about this. The tender is due to leave llan during sept to be worked on in derbyshire.
6880 had a fund raising scheme for the cylinders to be cast and machined for around 20k which was filled pretty quickly so i would have thought they would be cast by the end of the year but no news on their website about this. And there was an image of a pattern for motion bracket so again that must be due for casting if it hasnt already.
    No idea about 4709.
And of course there was the news about the B17 Spirit of Sandringham arriving at the start of next year.

There were some drawings of a shed extension around somewhere but i havent heard any more about it. Does anyone know any more?

    Gav

Exciting times at Llan, (4)5337 slips into a nice slot now 44806 has moved onto pastures new!

Must be a bit tight for motive power currently?

How does 7822 get a new "10 year" ticket (they don't actually exist) are the tubes being replaced?

I think that as the throat plate is being replaced, then the chances are that the tubes will be too?

Seems a shame - I think small prairies would be brilliant on the LR. Those panniers have been in the overhaul queue for ages, too. Both lovely locos.

As the tubes are not connected to the steel throat plate there would be no need to be?
