I haven't seen anyone mention on here what will happen to SLL locos when all three moguls are in action. Surely there wouldn't be a need to run large Bulleid's when you can call on smaller and more economical loco's. If you look at the fleet of loco's without including any of the Bulleid's the fleets look very strong. 31806,31625,31874,30053,6695,80104. I wonder if the Pacific's would go out on hire to other railways once the Moguls are up and running.

Looking at the list of locos I've put above in my post. What a great line up for a gala. I don't think you would need to bring in any visiting loco's.

I reckon Mid Hants could use them, as 4 locos have just left :) ... imagine that if 34072/34028/34070 joined 35005 / 34105 and 34059 in the future... wow that would be a good day out.

As it stands, barring unforeseen eventualities 6695 is likely to come out of traffic in 2016, 30053 in 2017 and Manston in 2018 (if my memory's not playing tricks); coupled with an increase in our operations with more days where the SR needs 3 steam locomotives in traffic, and one of the most intensive operations in the heritage railway field, the loan of these locos doesn't render anything else unrequired, it just gives the SR a greater ability to deliver what it advertises and to develop its services in a competitive market.

The chances of all 6 locos being available for service at the same time must be slim. 4 in service and 2 awaiting/receiving maintenance would seem a more likely balance, so still work for some SSL locos for the foreseeable future
