Rumour of the moment is that The Jacobite is transferring to the Marlow Donkey line from 2016

They only seem short because of the speed that the western locos used to climb them :D

It's quite simple really. If the dispute is resolved, they should run as advertised. and if it isn't, they won't.

My feeling is that if the ban is still in operation - which I am sure will be resolved by then anyway; is that they would operate as planned, but as diesel hauled, or maybe part steam/part diesel, if the route is outside NR LNE.

The December ones are very much "xmas shoppers", so a majority of passenger will be more interested in the Christmas Markets in York, which is obviously a massive seasonal attraction.

Perhaps the London ones could operate part steam haulage via the West Coast main line to Farington Junction, and head East to Blackburn/Hellifield, then diesel onto York via Leeds. Or via the Midland main line to Sheffield, then diesel to York via the Swinton and Knottingley joint line. Pure speculation on my behalf, as I do not know where the NR LNE boundaries start finish in the East Midlands, and I suspect both would take longer, and reduce the time in York anyhow.

My perspective of this issue is that NR have painted themselves into a corner, and that we hope the arbitration resolves the debacle quickly for the benefit of the customers booked on the planned trains mentioned above.

Rather ironic that away from the badlands of the L &NE zone of NR,over this past weekend 4 steam trips have run successfully (2 WCRC and 2 DBS) without a diesel in sight. Having said that,we could probably do with some rain soon to avoid any future possible problems.

On the other hand it could be argued that West Coast have 'painted themselves into a corner'! That is why arbitration is needed. Time will tell, I guess, but I can't help feeling that whatever the outcome we will not go down this path again as things may well be different or simply clearer.

Most of it was last time i looked...
Shame that didnt work out, sure it would have brought a bit of work and trade to Helifield, was it refused on the grounds that it was a tin shed in avery prominent position and ' not sympathetic to the Rural environment' ?

Are you sure? This trip is from London to Lowestoft and I didn't think York's influence stretched that far.

The tin box is still at Hellifield with a motley collection of old res vans partly housed.
The building yielded a pretty penny in ash extraction I believe too. There was then said to be something substandard that the building inspector was unhappy with. Short of the local authority pulling it down it seems yet another exercise in obduracy.
Shame because a depot plus turntable would be a terrific asset to all loco owners / promoters that use the locale and could command fees accordingly no doubt.

The Easterling starts and ends at KX; The LNE area includes the ECML all the way to London plus the Hertford Loop. If they ran from Liverpool Street they wouldn't have a problem as that comes under Anglia.
