Difference with the 25/10 trip is that it is advertised as part Deltic hauled in any case so perhaps Deltic all day? I would rather have the A4 to Newcastle I booked for but if not how about 87 002 instead?

That's not the one I was thinking of - was that one actually a derailment? (Your smugmug page says "failure"). I was thinking of 13/08/11 - 6201 derailed on Crewe Heritage Centre and the CME was diesel hauled. Luckily I found out in time to get across to Leeds and do The Waverley with 44932 instead.

As far as I remember back then it was due to 6201 failing at Crewe Heritage centre, might be getting mixed up with dates regarding derailment
    anyone else know anything?

I gather that all station staff at York have been briefed and provided with fire extinguishers just in case.

    1. Their will be a lining of the entire route, both sides by the fire service standing with buckets (Max spacing 2 ft).
    2. every 2nd man will have a camera to capture evidence of potential fire (minimum 10 mb pixel)
    3. 30 people, per carriage, with clipboards will be ready on board to fill out forms on the spot. (10 forms per person, single sided)
    4. Further more a man with a pump trolley will follow behind with a trumpington fire wagon filled with water and two disney characters pumping to have the pressure ready. (2 hoses, a mouse and a duck have been requested from Disney)
    5. As a further measure all ECML services will be diverted by the WCML, WCML services via North Sea ferries and Irish rail. (3 Ferries and a rowing boat)
    6. Alex Salmon has been hired as a source of wind power to blow out the fire as a measure of last resort... he can talk to the flames. (he will be fed beans the evening before)
    7. Royal Mail has distributed safety cards to every residence on route (including possible diversionary routes) on how to act when seeing a steam train (in short.. find a hole & get in it).
    8. A man with Dog will bark when the train starts to warn the first person in the human chain to keep it safe. (Dog will be minimum 2ft long, 1 ft high)
    9. A man with goat will bleat when the train stops to inform the danger has passed. (A White goat is presumed)

Take precaution not to confuse a dogs bark with a goats bleat.
Just in case.. a dog goes "Woof Woof", a goat goes "Baaaah Baaaah".
In case of any doubt consult your line manager for further training.
(it is possible to budget restrictions that the goat might be substituted for a Sheep, and the Dog might be imported and have a german accent.. the dogs sounds therefore might be "How How".

You are advised to understand the difference between Woof Woof, How How, Baa Baa and other noises (such as Quack Quack and Squeak Squeak that might eminent from the fire truck or Denial Denial from Alex ).

    10. The banking, insurance and legal industry will be on standby to handle any consequence including a man holding a breaker switch to cut off the trading floor if the markets are overly impacted.
    11. Every lump of coal has been washed free of dust, barcoded, stamped and individually numbered, so any ash can be identified back to it's source.

I wish them all the best of luck on this dangerous journey through Yorkshire, all Emergency service and Armed Forces leave has been canceled.

Of course if doesn't rain, then a new assessment of risk will be required and the above amended or the train subject to delay. At no time will there be a fire in the locomotives fire box and smoking is banned on the footplate.

Our thanks go to Old Mac Donald and his Farm for providing resources for this operation, it was much cheaper than hiring a circus.
Project Plan, Issue & Risk (RAID) log to follow.

Well 5029 was certainly solo from Bristol to Saltley earlier as witnessed by yours truly at Kings Norton, I'm sure as hell not getting up at silly o clock to see if it leaves solo however!.

Interesting to note that I have heard reports that 46115 was moved this afternoon but stopped at Church Fenton because - it was in LIGHT STEAM !!!! Noting that light steam is required for cylinder lubrication the convoy was allowed to continue once it was confirmed that 46115 was being towed by a diesel.

This raises the questions of (1) IF concerned why wasn't the consist checked before leaving York by NR (b) WHO pays for any consequent delays due to the convoy being stopped and (c) does this hint at the current problem being "personal" in that someone somewhere doesn't like WCRC and / or the way it operates its programme of events. If (c) applies it seems strange that only York seems to have problems.

Those are good questions but assuming that the reason for the stop is what you say, I'm guessing that this is just a matter of local control and local instructions. SG was seen in steam on the move. It was reported as such. The convoy was stopped and a few questions asked, presumably to check that whatever had been agreed about arrangements for the move was in place. Yes - NR(NE) does have an ongoing problem with WCR, it seems.

The ongoing problem seems to be that wcr has been unable to provide sufficient assurance that the breach that occurred with 5972 on 12th July cannot occur again. Checking the 46115 move may be positive if it provides confidence rules are being observed.
