    27 September - 28 September
    Join The Crewe Heritage Centre for a fantastic weekend of thrills and excitement as we hold our 2014 Modern Traction Gala, featuring resident locomotives; 03073, 47192 (subject to repairs being completed), 47712 & Industrial Vanguard Shunter on Brake Van Rides.
    Also, Visiting locomotives courtesy of Direct Rail Services (Subject to Availability)
    Other Diesel Locomotives on display include:
    08830, 37108, 46035 & 87035
    Steam Locomotives on display are;
    68030, 80136, 5224, 5553 & 7027.
    The Advanced Passenger Train Driving Trailer 48103 will be tilting over the weekend.
    All other Heritage Centre Attractions will be running.
    After D1842 being out of traffic for a number of years our volunteers have been busy doing essential maintenance. This will be your first chance to ride behind D1842 at the Crewe Heritage Centre.

    Little known fact, but D1842 hauled the first passenger train north of Ramsbottom...on the ELR.

    A year or so before Rawtenstall opened a VIP train ran to the opening of Irwell Vale station, which it top and tailed.

    47192 (D1842) officially restarted at 4pm after extensive work which has taken place. So we are pleased to announce that it will be running on brakevan rides this weekend for our modern traction gala. We would like to thank all the team who has helped and supported the project. Here's to many happy years!
