There wasn't room on there to swing a cat, let alone a punch!

I heard the brew up was about what could pull the least.. a WC or the Railmotor.
Someone left a can of Ambrosia on the track on the first trip and it spent the rest of the trip slipping :)

You were standing next to me, those shots are almost identical to mine and I remember the person standing next to me had a canon 70d strap.

And the forum is back on line after an unscheduled stop. With thanks to whoever removed the chimney top.

Not at all, I was just pointing out the coincidence :) If Ihad know it was a fellow Natpres member standing next to me, I'd have said hello.

    Same here.
I spotted a fellow Nat Pres member - Camraman(who I know ) waiting for the next train but since he was in the middle of the group wasn't able to say hello, and also one ( who I don' know ) watching our departure - Ray Mason.

Good to see the event was well supported, and Thanks to GWS, West Coast , Network Rail and FGW.

Good fun on the branch today photting and riding. Only negative point was the cretin on the station road bridge shouting at the support crew to get out of his shot. The fact the were in the middle of watering 93 didn't seem to be of importance in his eyes.

The line is not easy to photograph/video due to the number of trees and Buddleja growing on the lineside.

Sorry didn't notice you in the scrum Paul. Shame it was such grim lighting yesterday, really flat. Well worth the effort to get a ride for the first time. Must make an effort to get on the next event as I'm sure it will be more scenic and LONGER!

    Yes indeed!

Reflecting. Memories. Last train on Staines W branch(27/3/65) Chased out of 81c in 64/65.
Chatting to the fantastic FGW people ( no names!)who were v much the prime movers. Sad the trailer wasn't there as local people could have joined the fun and paid on the day but capacity problems prevented that. The slightly odd sight of many elderly white men one side of a fence or queuing on the bridge and the vibrant younger mixed race local population . I have many many memories of Punjabi steam and was thinking about Amritsar Works still overhauling working steam in India- possibly the largest SE Asian facility

Mixed emotions. I have an original painting of the Railmotor by J Austin and it's my mob pic!

I feel future local events such as these would benefit from a 'inclusive community'approach which Tfl try hard at as do FGW with their excellent partnerships. I was a little sad that local ethnic Indians were not part of the celebrations with so many working on NR/FGW/Tfl. However, this is a very personal reflection and 100% not a criticism as so much work had to be done to achieve this v rare event. Perhaps I'm missing India (20+visits) or youthful train spotting @81c.........

The buses looked good at Slough but had v few visits on Sat by lunchtime despite some real gems running

I gave my second ticket on the branch away and headed back to Devon

Thanks especially to GWS and FGW for giving us an extraordinary experience.

I'm not generally posting at present as I sense my views to be generally " out of synch" with the forum but wish all fellow enthusiasts the very best!!

    Ray Mason

Maybe he was working on behalf of a mate two miles up the road who was strategically placed to get a shot of the fire being thrown out in a hurry? ;)
