The Northern Rubber Company was founded by Alan Pegler's father. The train was an outing for the company staff and employees.

 

The Northern Rubber Company ( now part of Icon Polymer) is based in Retford Notts visible from the ECML to the east of the station just before you cross the low level GC Sheffiield Lincoln line.
