A major new transport interchange opens in Manchester on Sunday linking bus and tram services.
The opening of the £28m Shudehill Interchange will see buses routed away from both Corporation Street and Cross Street, which will be pedestrianised.

More than 1,000 buses will pass through the interchange daily along with frequent tram services and the free Metroshuttle 2 service.

The new link is between Victoria Station and the Arndale Centre.

The trial pedestrianisation of Cross and Corporation Streets takes place from 1100 to 1900 each day.

A second city centre Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive Travelshop will be open at the interchange to complement the one at Piccadilly Gardens.

Passengers will be able to get travel advice and buy tickets in the city centre up to 1930.

People can also take advantage of a Photo-Me booth, a no fee cash machine and internet kiosks.

A newsagent and café will open from Sunday, with more shops to open in the coming months.

There are also toilets with baby changing facilities available.

GMPTE projects director Michael Renshaw said: "Shudehill Interchange will be a major boost for city centre travellers. It's a modern, stylish building which offers safe and comfortable surroundings for passengers."
