£6.8 million for ‘Scotsman’ – the NRM answers our questions

Тема в разделе 'Steam Railway', создана пользователем Thomas Bright, 6 окт 2016.

The overhaul of Gresley ‘Pacific’ has cost £4,537,892 since it was started in 2004, and this sum has to be added to the £2.31 million purchase price.

Steam Railway has asked some stern questions why the 4-6-2’s repair bill is a staggering £1.5million more than it cost to build the mechanically similar ‘A1’ 4-6-2 No. 60163 Tornado from scratch, and not far short of the cost of the new ‘P2’ 2-8-2 No. 2007 Prince of Wales.

The response from the NRM arrived too late for publication in our latest printed issue – on sale on October 8 - but you can read them EXCLUSIVELY on this website on Friday October 14.
