Epping Ongar Railway’s diesel fleet is being further enhanced with the forthcoming arrival of British Railways Class 25 No D7523.

The locomotive will be leaving its current home at the West Somerset Railway in early September 2011 for a new home at the 6.5 mile Epping Ongar Heritage Railway. The Class 25 has been based at Williton Diesel Depot in the care of the Diesel & Electric Preservation Group for the last 15 years and she has been enjoyed by thousands of visitors and staff over the years. Further details of D7523's final passenger workings are on the WSR website.

This news is announced the day after a tamper-liner arrived on the heritage line, and is seen as two steps forward as the teams work to get the branch ready for run diesel and steam hauled passenger trains.

Nice Locomotive, saw her last year at Williton on an engineers train.
I remember her sister locomotives powering the early evening Peterborough
to Leicester train in 1970,a change from the Cravens DMUs
