€84 Mainz tram extension to go ahead

    Stadtwerke Mainz AG and Mainz City Council have agreed the funding for a 9.2 kilometre extension of the Mainz tram network.

    Subsidiary Mainz Transport Company (MVG) has been given the green light to start work on a new €84 million link which will add 15 new tram stops between Hauptbahnhof West south to Lerchenberg.

    Of the total €84 million cost, €44 million will come from the federal government, €9 million will come from the State of Rhineland-Palatinate and the remainder will be funded by Stadtwerke Mainz AG.
