Aaaah the memories; http://mark-walker.fotopic.net/p68930147.html shows 48393 working an extra Huncoat Power station - Portsmouth loop service after which the loco returned to Rose Grove and was withdrawn. My claim to fame ? - I was the enthusiast seen behind Hughie Wearden ( the driver ) looking out from the footplate as it passed through Rose Grove. A grand day of memories which Alan Castle has detailed in his "Last Days of Steam in Lancashire" book.

Lucky! I will add that to the caption about the withdrawal. Thanks for the tip :)

Some lovely shots taken by your dad Mark, recording the unfortunate demise of steam in 68. Nice to see a few familiar locos, snapped in their BR working life.

Pardon my mistake - but there's no need to to get so prissy given that at least I gave you an opportunity to correct the fact and gain some free publicity. In another context it it could be argued that putting the book name in quote marks sugggested that the title given was not necessarily correct but at the time of posting that was only a minor detail compared to the train information which was of greater relevance to the OP. There are ways of correcting errors - I suggest yours is not the most amicable.
