I did a thread like this one last year. It truly is hard to believe that we are less than a month away from the beginning of the Fellsman season. I'm leaning towards 61994 being the main power. However, I think there are those who know more. May one of them step forward?

And what about 44932, 48151, 46115, 45699 and possibly 5690 which are all based at Carnforth? I personally would like to see 5972 run one too before it gets carted off to Watford for a couple of years.

If it were me I would like the Jubilees and the Scot. Some questions
    1) What is the status of the 8f
    2) Are we even going to see Leander?
    3) Shall 45231 be staying in Carnforth after repairs? 3 locomotives in Fort William seems like enough.
    4) Shall David Smith be rotating his 3 three 4-6-0's for some Fellsman duties?

Though the pool consists of five locomotives there are other trains that need to be worked by some of the engines allocated to it. Given the vagaries that crop up in the normal season there will not be much prior notice from time to time. Additionally, since for the past two years it has very much been The Marquess show, and it cannot have too long before it is withdrawn, I tend to agree with mike1522.

Whilst the Marquess did a fair few last year I don't recall it doing many (if any) the year before!

Hopefully they will continue the slightly earlier start from Lancaster this year which means I see it whilst waiting for my train to work!

61994 ran a couple of times on the Fellsman during August 2012, but that year's Fellsman's were more the 8F show than the Marquess show.

In 2012 the season started on July 4th. The 8f ran the four trains that month, from August 1st the K4 took over and worked the final five trains. Unlike last year the engine is, so far, not assigned to appear on The Welsh Mountaineer but when and where it will put in an appearance only time will tell. Some folk would like to see it work a Scarborough trip but it will probably remain in the Fellsman pool.

And 5972 will still be warm for the first Fellsman after its outing the previous Saturday.

So could it be in the mix? Make sense to get the most out of it before retirement for a while.

According to my sources the Fellsman pool for this year has identified 44932; 45690; 45699; 46115 and 61994 as motive power but not identified which loco will work on which dates.

Some really imaginative answers being given here! Basically, it might be an engine based at Carnforth or the K4...

And everything else will be busy somewhere else...

35018 might be ready during the season or is that just imagination?
It is however still a loco based at Carnforth so maybe not very imaginative either.

June is more open than July and August during the peak of the summer season. I would think that 44932, 45699 and 46115 shall be spending a chunk of their duties on Waverly and SSE's.
I'm glad to see that 48151 had a good test run today.

Things could change but as of present sources say that Network Rail hasn't detailed a Scarborough Spa schedule for WCRC on mid-week runs despite it being advertised on the WCRC website but has noted a WCRC schedule and pool comprising 44932 / 45699 / 46115 based at York for the Sunday "Waverley" runs.

Wouldn't mind seeing 5972 in the mix at all, given they could find a couple of buckets of green paint first, or matt grey and rust (very original!) to cover the toy town livery. Given a large number of the travellers will not be enthusiasts and not aware of what's up front, except that it is steam driven, 5972 might carry a little credit with muggles.
