2015 August 15th - Tywyn Rotary Club Race the Train

Discussion in 'On Track.' started by Karen Willans, Aug 16, 2015.

A Day in the Life of a Race Train

Over 1,500 runners with their friends and families descended on Tywyn for the 32nd Rotary Club of Tywyn Race the Train. They were here to compete in the Tynllwyn Challenge, Dolgoch Challenge, Quarry Challenge and the main race - the 14 mile Rotary Challenge following the Talyllyn Railway up the beautiful Fathew Valley. You can find out the winners and times on the Race the Train website.

The 10.10 morning race train carried some competitors for the Quarry and Dolgoch Challenges up to their starting points. The afternoon 14.05 Rotary Challenge train was full of family and friends of the runners, cheering them on as we passed them in glorious sunshine. Around 200 runners managed to beat the train this year - congratulations to everyone who took part.

The race trains were complemented by the usual passenger train service and a relief train to follow behind the main race train.

It's a huge event for Tywyn and the Talyllyn Railway - many thanks to the organisers for another amazing day!
