2015 January - Pendre Update

Discussie in 'On Track.' gestart door Karen Willans, 11 jan 2015.

Continuing work on Carriage 20 and locos

A few people were around Pendre this weekend getting on with a lot of small jobs.

In the loco shed No 6 had it's injector cones cleaned and the plugs and gauge glasses removed. Since No 4 Edward Thomas was lit up for testing, it was used for a carriage shunt. The air pump is back on No 2 Dolgoch, and one of the whistles reattached. On Sunday all the locos were dragged out of the shed so the end pit could be pressure washed.

More work has been done on Carriage 20 since last week. The inside panels have been cut out and first coats of varnish on. Hopefully these will be put back in next week, meaning work can start on the inside of the carriage. Another coat of pink primer has gone on, more filling has taken place and the pink has been rubbed down ready for the next coat. It's a long job but worth doing well as it helps protect the wood from rotting. It also makes the final paint job look better! Timber has been machined to make the new sections to modify the Nant end so they'll be put into place soon.

Thanks to everyone for their help this weekend, it's great to see the progress a small group can make!
