2015 July - Special Guests and Special Trains

Discussion in 'On Track.' started by Karen Willans, Jul 8, 2015.

In between partying, we've been pleased to welcome some distingushed guests to our railway

On Thursday 2nd July we were delighted to welcome Ken Skates AM, Welsh Government Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism to the Talyllyn Railway. The Deputy Minister had a footplate ride to Abergynolwyn in the company of our General Manager Chris Price and Director Gareth Jones.

We are looking forward to being part of Wales' Year of Adventure in 2016 and showcasing the Talyllyn's Railway Adventure!

The Archbishop of Wales, The Most Reverend Barry Morgan joined us on Monday 6th July for a Driver Experience train. His steed for the day was No 6 Douglas. His crew was comprised of Talyllyn volunteers Canon Malcolm Brown, Director of Mission and Public Affairs for the Church of England, Fireman Ian Evans, a Reader in York diocese and Guard, Reverend Nigel Adams of Tywyn.

We also ran a special train to celebrate 80 years of the Glyn Valley Tramway. Both our Glyn Valley Tramway carriages were on the train for GVT group members to travel in.
