2015 June - The Abergynolwyn Blue Tits

Discussion in 'On Track.' started by Karen Willans, Jun 3, 2015.

    Most unusual nest in Britain?

Our favourite regular Abergynolwyn visitors have been in residence in the signal post. They have even featured on the BBC Springwatch Facebook page. Here are a few more stunning photos of the Blue Tits. The chicks usually fledge in early June so not long before they venture out.

You can see plenty of wildlife around the Talyllyn - we've got buzzards who follow the train, the occasional Red Kite hovering above, badgers roaming the track at night, plenty of sheep in the fields alongside the track and even a cow that looks like a pig living in the fields near Abergynolwyn. The station buildings have provided nesting sites for swallows and house martins so it's not just the Blue Tits who have made the Talyllyn their home.

The wild flowers along the trackside support a wide variety of insect life and our bluebells smell amazing from the train.
