The last loco working party of the Winter took place over the weekend, fitting in around the service trains and a training event taking place. Pendre messroom is being refurbished so it was fantastic to be able to have tea breaks out in the warmish Spring sunshine.

Thanks to the large gang No 4 Edward Thomas was put back together and is just about ready for her steam test.

The tasks included:

• Putting back the boiler plugs and hydraulically testing the boiler
• Re-attaching the ashpan and damper
• Returning the firebars to the firebox
• Replacing gaskets and reattaching the blower pipes in the smokebox
• Painting the buffer beams
• Various other useful tasks!

No 1 Talyllyn needs a bit of work completing before entering service again. The airpump was put back on following the Charter Trains last week. There is also some work to be finished on the cylinders.

In the Paintshop Carriage 20 is gradually progressing. The carriage roof is being made watertight, so until this is done not much painting can take place. Keep up to date with their progress via the Pendre Paintshop Facebook page.

Up the line, the daffodils are out in their usual glorious splendour at Rhydyronen.
