OK, we've still go the Santa season and the carol service main line specials to look forward to this year, but 2015 is only a couple of months away. While there's much of an unexpected nature that can (and probably will) upset the most informed of predictions, it looks like 2015 could be the nest year in the preservation era for a number of classes of loco:-

Manors: If Foxcote's retube can be finished and Bradley Manor is completed, this will make 6 out of 9 preserved examples working next year. Is this a preservation-era record?
Double-Chimneyed Castles: I believe Tyseley are hoping 7029 will be ready for a gentle run-in on the Shakespeare Express services next summer. With 5043 still in ticket, this must be the first time there have been two double-chimneyed Castles in working order for over 50 years. (Not forgetting that Nunney Castle will still be around to represent the original single-chimney two-row superheater version of the class.)
Merchant Navys (or should it be"navies"?): 35006 is very close to completion and should run next year. People who have spoken to those "in the know" at Carnforth suggest that 35018 should also be in action at some point for the first time since 1964. While 35028 will be withdrawn for an overhaul in the summer, if the other two engines are in action before then, will this be the first time we have had three MNs in working order since 1967? ( I can't remember whether 35005/27/28 were ever in ticket together.) With 35027 "not far off" by some accounts, 35005 lined up for a 2017 comeback and 35028 likely to have a fairly quick turnround, there may be even better years to come in the future for fans of Mr Bulleid's big beasts
LMS 3-cylindered 4-6-0s: With 46100 Royal Scot not far off and 45690, 45699 and 46115 already in working order, we should be able to enjoy four of these engines for the first time since 196??? Personally, I hope that they will spread their wings occasionally and we night see a bit of LMS 3-cylinder action south of Crewe.
B1s: While it's possible 61264 and 61306 have both been in ticket together, the latter in particular hasn't clocked up many miles in recent years, but under its new owner, this looks set to change. Steam Dreams are planning to make extensive use of it in the first few months of next year. It therefore looks as thought more people will be travelling more miles behind a B1 next year than at any time since the 1960s.
BR Standard 76000s: 76017 should steam next year and hopefully 76079 too. With 76084 now restored, this will be the first time three of these locos will have been in working order since 1967.

(On the down side, we're losing two out of the three currently working A4s in the next 12 months. Oh well, you can't have everything.!)

Another single Chimney Castle may return to steam next year 4079 Pendennis. Hoping there will be a line up of 4 working Castles plus 1 out of ticket one at Didcot.

61264 has clocked up over 25,000 miles in the past 2 years, almost all passenger, so there hasn't been a poor chance to get in mileage behind a B1, but I take your point.

It will be a bad year for the LNER, loosing 60019, 60007, 62712 and 69621 in the next 12 months!

76079 is almost finished - I'd expect to see it this year, probably on NYMR Santa aervices.

According to an mnlps working member i ran into recently the group would like 35028 to be reacquainted with the northern fells before it is withdrawn this time. Hope it happens.

Do you have a reference for these sources - all questions to Ian Riley about 35027 have gone unanswered, with absolutely no indication that it is anywhere near completion.
Would be interested in any updates you've seen.

A few years ago, there were 6 from 10 (or, realistically, 6 from 8) Terriers all operational at once - two on the Bluebell, two on the KESR, one on the IoWSR and one at Bressingham. I think the most assembled in the same place at once was five.

A quick search on Flickr for most recent photos shows her looking like this:

    https://www.flickr.com/photos/northeasternrail2/11955792433

It would be lovely if she has since disappeared into the workshops, but my thoughts are that she is waiting for 46100 and 34046 to re-emerge from Crewe before heading there herself.

The talk of 35027 not being that far off came via one of the team working on 35005 at Eastleigh, who posts under the name of "Siquelme" on this forum. I don't know who his sources were.

That's where it gets confusing. To the best of my knowledge (as of september 2014), the frames with the graffiti over the centre drivers and lacking all wheelsets are 35022's and the ones with the buffers, red motion brackets and lacking only driving wheels are 35027's. The boiler was on 35022's frames upon arrival but moved onto 35027's since. 26_DM will probably know where the musical chairs game is up to more than I.

Sorry not a clue as to the current status of either loco configuration. Given recent developments though it seems logical to think all bits will be united at Crewe in due course.

It may not be a bad LNER year if a specific loco makes it out of NRM.
No one has mentioned Lizzie's return in this thread yet. I also have higher hopes that the Blue King shall finally make it out on the mainline.

2x S160s should be running at CVR in 2015, first time this will have occurred in the UK since 1944(?).

If it doesn't happen for February Steam Gala, it will happen in May.
