2016 March - Star of the Severn Valley Railway Spring Gala

No 4 Edward Thomas on holiday in Highley

Over the weekend of 18, 19 and 20 March, our very own No 4 Edward Thomas was one of the stars of the Severn Valley Railway Spring Gala.

No 4 took up residence at Highley, next to the Engine Shed, on a portable set of tracks. There were plenty of people about to take footplate rides and find out more about our narrow gauge engines. In return for a footplate ride, we asked for donations to No 3 Sir Haydn's Appeal. Many thanks to everyone who put some cash in the tin. The buzz was lovely, especially from the small children who recognised 'Peter Sam' and people who remembered visiting Tywyn on holiday years ago.

Many thanks to everyone who came to help out by manning the stand, handing out leaflets and looking after No 4. The team who organised No 4's 'holiday' did a fantastic job, and with the new portable track we have, watch out for more 'holidays' away for our engines! Particular thanks are due to our friends at the Severn Valley Railway who made us feel so welcome.
