Great footage Simon in less than stellar conditions and a good catch of "Repton" struggling for grip at Beck Hole.

There is some great stuff there, Simon.

Quite a few of the clips show the areas around Bridge 30 where the old Up trackbed has been cleared to provide some form of access for work on the Bridge.

I'm guessing you ended up even wetter than I was, Simon!. I was guard on the last train shown (76079 on the 15:10 Grosmont to Goathland), which terminated in Goathland Down Sidings. It was absolutely throwing down when we arrived in the sidings and the Guard has the "fun" task of walking up the loop to operate the ground frame and release the loco. BR plasticised raincoats are very good at turning the rain but unforunately deposit it all off the bottom of the coat on to the trouser leg! Attempts to dry out on the footplate of 76079 had to cease when the steam rising from the coat started to look as through it could be turning to smoke! My own fault, I suppose, for commenting that it was persistent drizzle rather than the forecast heavy rain earlier on! It was, of course, sunny by the time we reached Whitby!

I must also apologise for the unfortunae way in which the Whitby locos perfectedly matched their coaching stock (30926 in BR Green with late emblem on the Maroons, 76079 in BR Black with early emblem on the Caramin & Cream set). If we aren't careful, it might start to look as though these things were planned!

    Steven
