A nice selection of shots Martin - especially some of the "back" shots which a lot of photographers disparage. Goes to prove that a "good" photograph is a "good" photograph irrespective of the angle.

Thanks Mick and Fred . Good day all round, as ever with the good company of the participants , and a willing and enthusiastic crew (who are also enjoying all the pictures)

@Spamcan81 , the forecast was for at best a cloudy day , Metcheck, Met Office, BBC, Accuweather and Weather Channel all agreed . It was at least better than five days earlier when MetCheck gave us a day of unrelenting rain (very WD weather I thought !)

We didn't start until 10 as I wanted to ensure we could get the sunset finale if there was to be one and be fair to the crew on hours . By 10:30 a patch of blue appeared which stayed until almost 12:30 . Quite a few went home not believing it could get any better, guesses as to who they may be warmly welcomed !! . A slightly longer lunch as the crew had to sort out a firebar problem and we went to Highley still getting flashes of sun. By the time we were run round and remarshalled you could see a big blur hole to the south so Severn Lodge was our location and then Orchard Crossing and the final culmination of glints at Sandy Lane .

Some superb images there gentlemen, the combo of loco plus train look absolutely timeless in The Valley.

I concur with you Fred, There is something poignant about a train disappearing into the distance, for me, a back-shot is as appropriate as that front 3/4 portrait.

A point that Martin made was the likelihood of "WD weather", obviously it didn't happen, but did anyone take any moody, grainy black and white photos?

    Many thanks for sharing.

    Cheers

    Alan
