Hi all. Does anyone know what the delay is with 34028 and when it is expected to be ready for the main line? Thanks

The last update I read said that the ML test runs were delayed due to the current fire risk.

I believe the original plan was some mileage accumulation at Swanage before a mainline run, that of course may have changed.

Steam is working again at Swanage but not 34028. Wasn’t there a problem with electrics?
RTC could really like this loco to be available.

And at a later date they can? If not, which other TOC might?

The way I understood the SLL newsletter is that West Coast expressed concerns about the functioning of the electronic equipment, with the implication that when these issues are resolved, it should be happy to put 34028 onto its books.

I have every confidence that there will be a further update once there is some news to report. I bought some shares in SLL a while ago and have been most impressed by the organisation. We can be sure that every effort is being made to sort out these issues and I'm hopeful that it won't be too long before 34028 is back on the main line for the first time in 61 years - most likely at the head of a WCRC working

Where does it say WCRC will not be able to accept it when the ongoing issue is resolved?

It doesn't, but the original statement said nothing about what might happen in future, so I asked.

there is a slight risk of over analysing and hitting a panic button and I'm sure its just a to do list so that the installation works perfectly before being accepted into main line traffic . you wouldn't expect anything less

Update from SLL, 28 to travel to Southall Wednesday 3rd for loaded test run. Depending on result may haul RTC's excursion to Swanage 10th September

Good news that things are happening on the Eddystone front.

But, out of curiousity, how was this update sent? I can't see it on their Facebook and even though I am a shareholder I haven't received any direct communication either!

Owning group SLL have confirm that 34028 will leave Swanage on Wednesday 3rd September destination Southall where it will complete loaded test runs.
If successful ironically it will head the Swanage Belle from Victoria on Wednesday 10th September.

Does anyone know more details about 34028 movement to Southall, is it planned to be dragged by a Diesel or leading with a Diesel behind?
