35018 British India Line 'The Dalesman' 13th June 2023

I went on ‘The Dalesman’ yesterday 13th June hauled by 35018 British India Line & 37706 on the rear (doing all the work)

I was informed by stewards on board that the steam loco was NOT to do any pulling at all, the diesel did all the work and the Mk1 coaches were extremely hot inside
I decided not to come back on it and settled for a air conditioned run back to Preston
Tour left 15 minutes late and avoided Grayrigg stop and arrived very early at Carnforth due to diesel shoving all the way
Don’t know what it was like inside the coaches when they were made to wait 90 minutes in Carnforth south loop
Top marks to the loco crew anyway in such conditions even though basically in light steam
