I see the times for this are now on RTT. Routed via Staines, Reading and Newbury going out; Salisbury, Addlestone and Staines on the return:

    Outward: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U55091/2014/05/14/advanced
    Return: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/P80547/2014/05/14/advanced

Or the return might be this one, via Newbury:

Given that I don't believe Clan Line takes a DL on the Bath trips, I suspect that the Pullmans over Upton Scudamore might not be something that DBS or the MNLPS would recommend. So if they are sending steam via Reading outbound, I can't see why the same wouldn't apply inbound. Anyway the MNLPS is showing the return via Reading.

Indeed - I've had it confirmed from a friend who'll be in the support coach on Wed.
Clan Line took the Pullmans up Upton Scudamore bank last September, and made rather a good job of it. It's on my latest SR disc (which I'm just putting the finishing touches to). I'll be at the MNLPS AGM with the market stall ;-)

And lets not forget 21st November 2009.

35028 took just under 600 tons, equivalent to a 15 - 16 coach train from the good old days, up the bank at Upton Scudamore from a start in Westbury station. With wind blown heavy rain lashing the side of the train!

A wonderful performance on a truly foul night for weather.

Loco crew of Wayne Thompson and Brian Butcher plus a traction inspector whose name I didn't get.

OK. The load included a box on the back that could have helped. But it didn't. And I know that for sure as I was in the rear coach with my head by the open window all the way up that climb. Just one slip.

My interest, (if anyone here has ever noticed), may be Bulleids at high speed. But that slow speed effort by loco and crew is up there with the 100mph runs I timed in the 1960s.

Just checked my diary, Colin Kerswill was our traction inspector.
PS. No 67 booked with train today, out & back via Reading. Getting ready to go to Bath to work the return working.

And Bristol is getting its fair share of sightings of Bulleids this week with Clan Line today and Braunton on Saturday.

But MNLPS reports a points failure at Westbury that is delaying the train.

Past Bath about 40L. I wonder if they'll be delayed returning?

Only 30 late at Bristol it seems but Clan Line has to shunt the stock. So everything hinges on the time it takes to do that and service the loco. Three hours doesn't leave much room for error.

35028 ran into East Depot at 14:56 with its train for servicing. Loco has already been turned ready for the return. <BJ>
