3650 in BR days - Where and by who??

Hopefully this is the right place to post this?

We only have 3 BR photos of 3650 so far... then this one comes along!!
It was found in a May 1969 edition of Railway Modeller, but is not credited to anyone. Railway Modeller are happy for us to use it on our web site and with the lack of knowledge of the original photographer after 41 years, to credit them.

Anyone have any ideas who took it, or even where the location is? It's definately before 3650 was sold out of BR service pre 1963 as the steam heat and vacuum pipes are still attached. It looks very "South Wales"ish, and very similar to the Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen area where 3650 ended up, but who knows?

 

3650's allocations were as follows;

December 1939 ------ Built Swindon
January 1940 -------- Tyseley
October 1953 -------- Bristol Bath Road
December 1953 ------ Radyr
January 1954 -------- Cardiff East Dock
September 1955 ----- Abereynon
28th May 1958 ------ Bristol St Phillips Marsh
5th October 1961 ---- Neath
24th September 1963 -Condemmed
9th October 1963 ---- Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen (P.D.Fuels Ltd)
31st October 1969 --- Hereford (GWS)
??? 1970 Didcot (GWS)

So Neath could well be a possibility?
Any other thoughts?

 

This gets more and more interesting as I've never looked into it before.
This is an extract from our records showing the repaints after works visits;

4/12/47 30/1/48 Stafford Road -- Un-lined green with "BRITISH RAILWAYS" and temporary "R" suffix
6/3/51 17/4/51 Barry Works ----- Un-lined black, first type B.R. lion, red cab side No plates, Smoke box No fitted.
11/4/55 13/5/55 Caerphilly ------ Re-painted un-lined black, first type B.R. lion. Reversing rod painted red.
20/10/59 9/12/59 Stafford Road - Re-painted un-lined black, second B.R.lion.

This makes the photo pre 1959.
This would make the home shed at that time either Bristol Bath Road, Radyr, Cardiff East Dock, Abereynon or Bristol St Phillips Marsh. That's if the photo was taken at her home shed.

 

Abercynon shed still exists in industrial use. I had a look on google earth street view and there is a big hill to one side of it. The other remote possibility is 87B Duffryn Yard.

 

Just as an aside, Abercynon was recently reclad and is now in use by Birse Rail.
