nice to see some GWR at salisbury as well as some properly liveried pullmans in the train. I presume it will run to about 11 coaches as it is coming quite a long way, no the 5 coach trains we have seen from vt before.

5 coach trains? I don't think so. But then again maybe being able to count isn't a requirement for for the Tyseley Support Crew......us being so old.
By the way there are still seats available if anyone fancy's 4 Hours in Salisbury. And I can recommend a visit to the Cathedral a truly stunning building, both inside and out.

LOL Apart from the panniers runs, the private charter with 5043 recently and when 5690 tackled the Lickey with 6 I dont recall VT ever running with less than 8. Although VT does have lower overheads I doubt that even they could make a 5 coach railtour pay especially with the fares they charge!

The fact nearly all of the coaches behind 5043 the other night were Pullman/1st shows you what market that train was specifically aimed at.

Methinks LN 850 is partaking in a bit of Southern v GWR bias or he needs to get on Youtube more often.:becky:

13 is a bit much for a Castle on that route though isn't it...

I would have liked to have gone out to see this one but I'll be helping to get 'Nunney' ready for her jaunt to London, ah well!

The general opinion is 5029 was overloaded for the timings asked of it on that route, must have imagined that 47 tucked inside 30777 when it went Edinburgh ;)

Constipated is a bit unfair. It does seem to have all the hallmarks of being run with the boiler too full and the superheater not managing to evaporate all the water being carried across as a consequence. It would also explain why the piston packings are blowing so badly. It certainly wasn't blowing like that when I saw it the day before.

I hope 5043 is going like that at Hatton tomorrow night, allowed only 5 minutes after a standing start at Warwick Parkway! Last time she had 7 on which was spectacular enough http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xSR6WJTVFU, I presume there will be a greater load this time?
