    Hi All,
looks like 45110 is ready to head off to its new home at Barrow Hill. It is now very clean after some of the Bewdley MPD lads spent all day cleaning it! if you look very closely at the pictures you might even see some smoke coming from the chimney =P~

Just a correction James, Barrow Hill is not her new home, she is going there on loan, just like 7819 at Swindon.

You may be right there Southernman, while the loco is out of traffic, untill she starts getting worked on, and with little or no room currently at Highley, it is certainly a sensible place for her, and also good for retationships between the SVR and other groups.

Clean, dry and she will be kept clean. Best place for her. The manor group were taking photos of all valuable metal parts and saying that all parts last weekend to make sure when it does return, there are no missing pieces.

That doesn't speak very highly about the honesty of the folks at Barrow Hill. It might be a sensible thing to do but you don't go public like that. Subtle. . .Not!

Im sure any concerns are directed towards (unwanted) visitors to Barrow Hill and not the staff and volunteers...

They'd probably take that precuation regardless of where the loco is going, better safe than sorry.

If anything 45110 is safer at Barrow Hill as it's a shed with doors that shut for the night unlike the open yard at Bridgnorth for instance.

I think this may have been discussed on here before but is there any consensus on 45110's condition? How much work would be required when it is overhauled?

Who knows until it is stripped down, but it appeared to be mechanically pretty good right up until the end of its ticket, and still rode well - being fitted with manganese steel axlebox/horn guide liners no doubt helps. Of course a huge amount of work and money was invested in it's previous overhaul, so you would hope that this will prove to be the case when it is dismantled.
Can't comment about the boiler, other than its done a full 10 year ticket.

from what I heard off the crews leading upto its withdrawal, was running well.

Be good to see it back asap because of the money spent on it last time!

I don't think so - don't know where you got this from but this is nothing to do with the Manor Group (EMF)

Does anyone know if there are any plans afoot to overhaul 45110? She will have been out of traffic for 5 years in September :(

Others have been out for longer, its not as if there are no 5's out and about.
who knows in August 11th 2018 it may be the only Aug 11th 1968 loco running.

Also as 45110 is an actual company owned loco, there isn't so much cash in its favour and its others' turns first. However it would be nice if it was running for August 2018
