If I had to name my favourite non ex SR loco, (in the UK), it would be a Black 5.

So if I can fit in one of my regular walking trip to the Derbyshire Peaks and Dales in the week before this trip I may well try and go on this one.

Can anyone give the route from Great Rocks Jctn to Matlock please. It's not in my gradient profile book. And I know it doesn't go via Hassop and Bakewell, having walked along that footpath in the snow last winter!

Thanks for bringing it to our attention Kevin.

Nice to see 45305 returning to the main line. She's listed as one of the possible locos for the summer Sunday York - Carlisle trips, but I haven't seen anything yet about a mainline test run. I guess work on her is a little delayed by 70013's repairs.

Another day when Steam Age wants to be in 2 places at once! UKsteam shows 34067 (if she's fit by then) and 777 sharing an Eastleigh - Weymouth - Castle Cary - Minehead tour on the same day. Northern gricers will have a similarly difficult choice, with Lizzie running Doncaster - Ais Gill - Shap - Preston that day.
