Pure steam on this one and I was pleasantly surprised this morning as they were late off Derby and I was expecting the usual making up time thrash from the 47, but not too be !

Just an aside, Sutherland has been re shod and as a result in now taller than before, watch out for a spate of out of gauge notices.

Managed to stow away from York on the return as a positioning move to Derby for tomorrow's trip to Skegness. A few slacks here and there, but a decent run. Interesting route past Knottingley and Conisborough, 73mph on the downward slope after Alfreton.

    Are all locos routinely remeasured?
My understanding is that they must conform to a certain maximum static height, verified by VAB. Gauging being carried out on that basis, the variable being lateral.
