    Hi guys

before my last pc died, I had downloaded an old documentary from about 1979-80, about the rescue of GWR large prarie 5193 from Barry, it documented its departure and travel to steamport southport.

Im trying to find it again, but I cant think what it was called?

it was very good, well worth putting on youtube or similar,

and quite sad as there was quite a lot of celebration and hope about restoring it, a Liverpool couple bought it, they cracked a champagne bottle on it when they got it to Southport.

but nothing seemed to happen to it until it went to the West somerset and was converted to the mogul

if anyone knows it please tell

    cheers

    Mike

I too remember the program, narated by the late great Jonny Morris. It was Called "One Iron Horse" I think. I remeber the loco was loaded at Barry with help from a Sentenel steam lorry and unloadted at Steamport by the Jinty now at Llangollen which has long since lost it's LMS black for Thomas blue

Mike, when you say the PC died, was it the hard disk that failed or something else, in which case might you still be able to recover files from it?

not sure what happened to it, it was a laptop that had power problems.

    thanks, it was indeed called
"One iron horse-handle with care", from 1980.

now to try and find it.

one interesting part of it was the care they had to take loading and unloading the loco, the trailers wernt as big or specially adapted as they are now.

    cheers

    Mike

The owner, Dave Rawlinson, did acquire a lot of parts for the loco and had plans to restore it but sadly suffered from health problems and passed away a few years ago.

    Mike,

I too had the same problem, I bought a new laptop but took the old hdd out and used a Sata IDE Transfer kit from ebay to transfer all my files and videos.
