    Hi Neil,

Thanks for posting all of these! Just a thought-would it be possible to combine all your topics into one? Just that out of the first 20 topics on here about 7/8 of them are yours and it makes it hard to tell what's news and what isn't. Was thinking that if you combined and just kept one thread updated it might cut down on this, and maybe make it easier to keep up with what you're posting. What do you think?

    Ta,

    Danno

Thanks for posting these shots. I went to the event but I was only aged seven at the time so can't really remember that much about it!

Yes I am an active volunteer
He's been asked a few times before as well as being asked to post them in the photography section being the most fitting area but for whatever reason doesn't and still creates new thread after new thread.

This is probably the only thread of his I've clicked on in a long time due to the subject. If all the posts were combined or at the very least in the photography area, I'd probably view more of the photos.

I was another attendee as well as with all the other similar events at the time, Winchfield/Basingstoke etc.
I believe this was 35027's first appearance after restoration although I don't think it was in steam.
I still have all the brochures somewhere.

My Father took me along to the Winchfield and Basingstoke events also. Check out this excellent video of the Winchfield event:http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&frm=1&source=web&cd=6&cad=rja&ved=0CEcQtwIwBQ&url=http://vimeo.com/46818229&ei=97leUvmFHdDy0gWqtIGQAw&usg=AFQjCNFmtQSrtbLn2kGg9blBKDpQr83DEw

Lovely! I went on one of the steam sections from Andover to Romsey & didn't it shift! I sure my train was double headed by 80079 & 80080, may be wrong though. If you look carefully at the video at 22.47 you see what I mean by shifting although not the one I was on. And of course Gerald Daniels, he organised most of these events & what a job he made of them as well. A very keen person unlike the uninterested regime of today's privatised world.

Thanks Neil, really appreciate that. Really interesting looking through the pics-am I right in saying that they filmed some of Train Now Departing at that open day too?

Was this held in the up or down yard and where did the public gain access?

it was in the down side yard and was opened to the public from the yard gates, 35027 was not in steam, there were several other engines there, 850, 120, 30055 245, but only the USA was in steam which i found strange at the time because i didnt think it was on the approoved engines list 120 had a current ticket ,but was not allowed to move under its own power talking to the minder, at the time, it was hoped that it might have been possible to have worked it down in light steam deisel hauled
