Just released today, 60007's planned summer operating dates

"Visitors to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway are in for a treat this summer, as the iconic steam engine, 60007 “Sir Nigel Gresley” will be in operation on the Moors Railway.

Having undergone some minor repairs, the engine is scheduled to be in operation daily from June 21 to 28, July 5 to 12, July 19 to 26, August 2 to 9, August 16 to 23, September 1 to 6 and 13 to 20, and September 27 to 30, giving visitors to the area an even bigger reason to enjoy a day out on the railway."

Many thanks for the dates, my wife and I will be visiting on Sept.1 as it's my 30th bday on that day and we're having a holiday in York for the first week in September. Any guesstimate as to what the other service locos will be on that day please.

    Cheers

It is a bit early to say, but there's a good chance that they will be from the pool of 30926, 825, 75029, 45212, 6619 and 63395 as these are the regular engines.

Many thanks, yes a little early I know but just looking forward to coming up. On the next day we're booked on the Scarorough Spa Express from York, so two days of nothing but steam. Lucky my missus is quite tolerate towards my hobby but it comes at a price i.e. my debit card and wandering around the shops whilst she fills her bags up and and the money in my bank slowly depletes.

You coud possibly add 53809 to that list - its just re-entered service after work on its valves and is apparently transformed.

Now, who have you been talking to - Inspector Wilkinson (who likes it so much he is threatening to commandeer it as his persal steed!) or The Chairman!

"Transformed" was John's exact word on arrival at Pickering having just brought the heavy, 8 coach Pullman set up the bank and through last night.

Just a coincidental choice of words on my part! (based on the accounts posted on the NYMR forum). Its very good news though, something a bit different from the usual procession of Black 5s and standard 4s.

To flesh out my earlier message slightly, you are almost certain to see one or more of 75029, 30926 and/or 825 as these should be the three Whitby engines at that time. Then it is a question of filling in the roster with whatever else is available - which sounds like a choice of 45212, 53809, 63395 and 60007. 49395 is also on the line but tends to see limited use so it is possible but not likely. That would also have been true of 53809, but the recent work that has so improved its performance should see it in regular use.
