Looked suspiciously like Union of South Africa outside Southall this morning.

A first for me, I think (wracking my brains trying to think if I saw it at the SVR in the 80s)…

That would figure. She came south on The Tynesider last Saturday, and is booked to work The Christmas White Rose from Cambrideg to York and back on Sat 30th Nov, and then The Lyndum Fayre, KX-Lincoln and back on Sat 5th Dec.

Sat 5th will be a bit of a red letter day for East Coast fans, with 2 A4s arriving at KX the same evening, since 4464 does her final high-speed streak from York that afternoon.

So Southall depot will have two A4s, two Brits, one or maybe two Bulleid light pacifics and various Black Fives allocated for the next few weeks. Who'd ha' thought it? :)

Isn't finding a slot on a suitable lathe the biggest issue ?, in terms of work, a loco can be in and out within a couple of days.
