Anyone else noticed this on UK Steam?

    THE CATHEDRALS EXPRESS (26/08)
    London Paddington-Plymouth (WCGN) [wcrc]
    6024: Paddington-Taunton
    6023+6024: Taunton-Plymouth and return

Can't find any info on the Steam Dreams website. Anyone know any more details?

I presume Paddington to Taunton is via Newbury?

It seems that there is some doubt about joining stations for this run, I am informed that it will be Paddington, Slough and Reading.
It is frustrating that it conflicts with the proposed 5403/6201 VT run, but its the only weekend all the engineering works are correct before 6024 goes for overhaul.

Booked. Here's hoping all goes well. Afterall 6023 is not main line registered yet and has lost it's planned running in and 6024 will be in it's last few days of ticket.

The Steam Dreams website now states Locomotive TBA. It had previously stated 6024.

Letter through today states haulage will now be 60163 and 71000. Doubleheaded Paddington - Plymouth - Taunton for 60163 back into Paddington. I can understand 6023 being replaced but why has 6024 been pulled?

What a very strange combination..especially on the GWR. Could manage 16 coaches I suppose, but must be disappointing for those who booked early ???

What a peculiar combination! I have enjoyed tours behind both of these Locos. individually but the pair double-heading just leaves me cold!

It seems like a doubleheader through the Cumbrian Mountains shall be a better choice?

I'm surprised that King Edward 1 was pulled as well. It does seem that there are more double headers on this route than any other part of the National Network though.

Well the 60163/6024 combo has run before over this route so that could have something to do with it? This change only makes it more unfortunate that this clashes with VTs 5043 and 6201 DH as 6024 is no longer featured. Its a long time to go yet though and the way things are going its just as likely the Dawlish section will be swept away in a winter storm as it is for this trip to run in its present form!

Newton Abbott - Plymouth very much dictates what you can and can't do on this route, if you want a single loco then expect high prices and a short train.
