I have heard on the grape vine that crew are not air braking the royal Scot, that means they can only haul vac stock, and the only people it will run with is west coast railways, because ews only run air braked stock. fish 7373 81c fitter

Underneath in front of the ashpan. You need to be in a pit to see it.

No I do not currently volunteer

The pictures I saw of 6100 before the trailer fire clearly showed vac and air brake pipes. All were missing after the fire and only the vac pipe would have been needed on the WSR.

And spaking with the guys from Crewe, they did speak of completing the pipework for the air brakes upon her return to them after SSS2.

Sorry but in my mind it would appear someone stirring it here. We've been told in the other 6100 thread to be able to prove what we write. Hearing on the grapevine is not proof in my mind.

Well there are air pipes still on the tender but not on the front of the loco.

there's definitely some air brake pipework under the cabs, it was all visible last week when the floor boards were up...

That and the big m8 valve in the cab....

If you look at the front there is a bracket with two 'plugged' pipes below the buffer beam. The hoses/cocks burnt off in the fire on the M5 on route to WSR and haven't been replaced yet.

Sorry I forgot to add that 6100 didn't have AWS/TPWS the last time I looked, so does this mean that this has been installed recently for mainline running and certified?

Doubtful. The administration at Southall didn't have the foresight to obtain the necessary materials and plan the installation of those items. There is a lead time for such things.

The Crewe guys who came to Llangollen with 6100 mentioned that they were not going to continue the job of installing the Air Brake gear...

Suppose West coast use Vac only stock and loco's, so they could be the main operater in the future...
