Reported in another thread (Steam Traction) that this move takes place tomorrow (Easter Monday). Anyone know if that is confirmed ?

Passed through Acton Bridge on time, it seems that rumours of problems were just that, unfounded rumours...

Always light engine, very well, engine plus support coach, just about everytime it travels North or South as it goes about its trips to and from Scotland. Considering the loads it can handle, I just wonder what the tour operators are playing at.

Because of its restricted maximum speed (50mph), it would be difficult to path a railtour behind 61994 on the West Coast main line.

Doesn't have to be the WCML, back in 1990 it proved highly capable over the S & C easily hauling 460tons and handling a maximum of 530 tons (SVRN 96 - apologies if these figures are a little out, the maximum was an ETHEL plus pullman set I believe but without my photos for confirmation I won't say any more). You would think that it might be offered some work.

I am sure that the 'operators ' would have weighed up the pros and cons of the move before settling on the LE option. However if someone had offered to put up the money as guarantee then they would have been happy to oblige with a tour, steam hauled one way.

Loco arrived home at Thornton last night - all safe and sound.
No problems, No dramas, No crisis.

The team are looking forward to a successful season of operations.
