Not too long before the St David's Day train and no outward sign of a test train for Lizzie. Anyone know what the current position is with 6201?

Not all that fussed on what hauls it as long as I get a steam-hauled westbound run between Reading and Wootton Bassett Jc., as all previous trips I've done over this section have been eastbound. I was a bit peeved that the direct route wasn't being taken via Badminton and that the Swansea leg has been caped, but the extension of the steam legs to Paddington rather than the initially-advertised Challow is a fair compensation. Furthermore, Box Tunnel will be, surprisingly, completely new steam mileage for me. I think its the last substantial bit of mainline I have left to do in the South West. Thereafter, its Melksham (might have to let RTC's April run go) and the various branches of Devon, Cornwall and Somerset as and when they crop-up.

That said, it would be a nice bonus if it is completed in time, though, as my only trip was Crewe to Kenny-O (Willesden Jc. to Kenny-O was a useful bit of mileage...) and return from Euston.

What's the alternative motive power? Tangmere the erratic? Any chance of two Black 5s?

This train has vanished from the Steam Dreams Website.

It might not be cancelled, maybe the trip is just fully booked. The same thing happened with Flying Scotsman's trips in May where the trips were fully booked and then they just vanished from the website.

Tangmere is, after all, an anagram of 'met anger' and tbh, that's not far away from the sentiment it can generate when it falls over.

A friend of mine who purchased tickets on my behalf for this trip (means I got the discount) contacted SD after I told him what I read on here. Apparently this trip is looking doubtful at the moment, and SD have removed it to halt further bookings until it is certain what's going on. The reason cited is the doubt surrounding loco availablity, but more crucially, a lack of rolling stock at Southall. Presumably some sets will be under maintenance, particuarly when considering several carriages were split at Reading late last year due to defective brakes. So lets see what happens...

The train really is no more. Tried to book and told it has been cancelled as Lizzie won't be ready in time.
