Now on Realtime. Brent Curve has a 13 min stop , water ?that was a watering place about10- 15 years ago for MML specials, also 13min at Kettering, and then all the way to Barrow Hill. All sounds a bit tight to me with water .Might be one or two surprises here, light load or big push.?

A big push I reckon ! IIRC 46115 struggled for water last year, over the MML & was pushed over the top of Sharnbrook Summit at 70mph.

That's because she didn't get a chance of a top up after leaving Southall. Opentraintimes.com has the 13 minutes stop at Brent Curve Jct. for water so maybe a big shove won't be needed.

Hopefully, I now remember that was the case with the Scot last year.

That last record I have is December 8th 2001, when in LMS red. However, I do believe she has done a light loco run to/from Butterley much more recently. I am willing to be corrected on that though!

    Cheers,
    Tim

Yes .08/12/2001 ,it was advertised as a running in trip, also the last steam to use St Pancras station before rebuilding. I photo'd it climbing up to Corby tunnel, it was nearly sunset ,also a silhouette leaving Kettering. This was probably the first time a Duchess /Coronation class had been down the southern part of the Midland as all L M S class 8Ps were banned,to wide over the cab I was told when I was a lad. There were two diversions due to bad accidents from WCML in the 50s, when the 8Ps had to come of at Crewe or maybe Nuneaton. One on the 8/10/1952, the Harrow and Wealdstone disaster and 16/08/1954 when a empty wagon train became derailed at Wolverton spreading wagons all over the place..On the 8/10/1952 I noted the Royal Scot express with the usual 16 coaches on, that had stopped at Kettering North Box with a Crewe South black 5 ,the driver had had enough of this and needed assistance . Kettering rose to the occasion and produced a Blackpool L M S compound ,which had been prepared to work a fruit train to Manchester So the Royal Scot left Kettering with a Crewe South Black 5 piloted by a Blackpool compound. I've no record a L E movement ,but it has run up the ECML and via Melton Mowbray to Butterley.
    Cheers,
    Tim

I photographed that one on the Bletchley - Bedford Branch, not a route used for steam very often.

Farce. Presume water issues a spec 46115 last year. Looked at RTT and the Brent Jct. stop was missed out so the suggestion on opentraintimes that it was a water stop looks to have been wrong.

Nice sounding plod thro' the 1842 yard long Glaston Tunnel( Rutland), with a well controlled slip at the exit .Diesel just ticking over on the rear.Sorry for late post ,just back. Well worth going.
