    Re: LE Movements

Is it really that dry over on the east side of the country? I'm suprised that they would have caused lineside fires when not working particularly hard on an LE movement.

Posts moved from LE movements thread as I think this will need a thread of its own.

Various other delays approaching Kings Cross due to station congestion (affected most services between 30 and 90 minutes).

    National Rail;

A lineside fire near Doncaster, and a broken down train at Peterborough are causing disruption.

Because of this, there are delays of up to 120 minutes between London Kings Cross and Doncaster. These delays are expected continue until further notice.

Buses are supplementing the train service between Doncaster and Grantham.

Because of the delays to trains towards London earlier this evening, there is a lack of trains available for services out of London. Customers are advised to use alternative routes from London where available.

Alternative routes / services from London:

Stevenage / Peterborough - Use First Capital Connect services from London Kings Cross

Grantham / Newark / Retford - Use East Midlands Trains from London St Pancras to Nottingham for connections to Grantham

Doncaster / Leeds / York / Hull - Use East Midlands Trains from London St Pancras to Derby to connect with CrossCountry services. Leeds / York customers may also use Virgin Trains from London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly to connect with First TransPennine Express services.

Darlington / Newcastle / Sunderland - Use Virgin Trains from London Euston to Carlisle to connect with Northern Rail services to Newcastle for connections.

Glasgow / Edinburgh - Use Virgin Trains from London Euston

    Ticket Acceptance

East Coast, Grand Central and First Hull Trains customers may use each others services.

East Coast customers who decide not to travel today may use their tickets tomorrow (Saturday 3 September).

    Customers may also use:

Virgin Trains services between London Euston and Glasgow / Edinburgh

East Midland Trains services between London St Pancras and Nottingham / Derby / Sheffield for connections to Grantham, Retford, Newark and Doncaster.

CrossCountry services between Derby and Doncaster / York
First TransPennine Express services between Manchester Piccadilly and York / Newcastle

Heard 2hr delays on the radio travel news. I really hoped that this wasn't down to steam - checked UK steam and no tours on the ECML today - hadn't thought of LE moves. :(

Presumably not dampers, as these need to be opened and closed dependent upon the demands on the loco. More likely the ashpan hopper doors on Cromwell?

Was at Doncaster when 70013 & 30777 passed through 1 hour early. Half hour later all trains suddenly deleyed...reports were of small fire north of doncaster then came news of fire at Rossington south of doncaster. Staff had put out a sleeper at Doncaster station too.
Left doncaster an hour ago and some trains were starting to head south and arrive to head north.

It's to be hoped Network Rail bosses don't lose patience with the steam movement.

UKSteam.info says awaiting diesel haulage from Newark. Over on the WCML a WCRC has reportedly failed at Rugby on a Carnforth - Southall ECS. If this is the stock for the ACE and with 70013 and 30777 stuck at Newark, it's not looking good at the moment for tomorrow morning.

The ACE doesn't start until Sunday. Lets hope things are sorted by then and there's no over-reaction to what sounds like human error.
