Does anyone know what "mechanical difficulties" are preventing 7812 Erlestoke Manor from attending the Llangollen Gala on 8-10 April?
I'm coming back from Bangor that weekend and was hoping to see the two Manors (7822 Foxcote Manor being the other).

7812 failed at the WSR Gala on Sunday 20 March with a leaking flue tube. It returned to Bridgnorth (by road) later in the week. I'm not sure if this is the "mechanical problem" that will prevent its attendance at Llangollen.

David i believe this is the reason as it could be a month or so before she's running again.

The issue is a leaking flue tube with a new item on order & expected within 2 weeks. There is no "mechanical problem" - this is a poorly worded statement from the LR. Whilst the loco is out of traffic a couple of worn side rod bushes might be remetalled now that there is an opporunity to do this..

A return to SVR service by easter remains possible.

Thanks for all the information. I presume LR used "mechanical difficulties" as a general "cover all" rather than go into detail.

7812 back in SVR service yesterday after replacement of the defective flue tube and other minor repairs brought forward whilst waiting for the new tube
