Wow, after these years it's good to see not just the end in sight but a final figure to get there. That sum is not insurmountable so hopefully an appeal is forth coming get it over the hump .. Financially and the Heywood one.

Recently on the 20th October 2011, BR Stand Four 2-6-4T 80097 was pulled out of its shed by Gronk 08 D3232 to have its Chimney and Smoke Box door fitted complete with its number plate and handles.

This is the first time in years since it has been out the shed, the last time was to have its smoke box and cab roof fitted a few years ago.

The parts fitted on 20/10/2011 will now need a couple of coats of black to bring it closer to completion.

The work was completed by Alan Schofield, Dave Cousins, Malcolm Vickers and others from other deptments.

A big thanks to Dennis from the Standard Four Shop for the pictures to which he has let me use them on the website.

The next project will now be the boiler which we have already started on

Hear Hear! I remember visiting the Llangollen Railway in 2010 and seeing their 80072, which had not long been restored, in steam and in service. It looked absolutely pristine. These are magnificent looking locomotives as well as useful (in my view anyway) and well done to the team with 80097!
