Just out of curiosity I hope I happen to be at Highley to have a look at just what that flangeless middle driver does as the engine goes through that tight check-rail curve.

On balance probably easier than for an eight-coupled loco?

Hasn't 92212 been there before? Seem to recall seeing a photo of it being unloaded at Kiddy early-2000's.

Yes it has visited reasonably recently. It will be nice to have a Spaceship about, they haven't been common visitors to the Valley.

Well, I shall be heading for the Valley after this announcement! I fell in love with 9Fs back in the Black Prince on the East Somerset Railway days, some 30 years ago.

'Tis on the svr forum, looks like an announcement in their working members communications.

Needed for the high season timetable due to the present "thin" home fleet.

Great news. Missed the visit of 92212 back in 2000(ish) so will look forward to seeing the loco on the Valley this time round. The ASG really is shaping up to be epic!

92212 was hired from the GCR in December,2000. It was used on the Santa trains and was still being used in mid February, although I don't have a date for it's final departure. On the last few days of 2000, the SVR was blessed with perfect weather conditions for steam photography .... snow and clear blue skies. The locomotives in sevice at the time were 7714, 45110 and 92212. The crews certainly played to the photographers. Happy days. <BJ>

Fantastic news. Will keep everyone happy, enthusiasts and joe public, plus I seem to remember that she was considered quite an economical performer despite her size. it goes without saying of course she will cope with anything the operating department need to throw at her! Hopefully 2857 isn't too far away either. Will definitely pop over for this one.

Is the maintenance work on the engine yet complete pending her departure to the SVR? Just had a look on the Mid -Hants website but cannot see any recent comment, beyond the loco being over the wheeldrop.

    Thanks

I can confirm this, I had the notice from the roster clerk on friday, I'm not 100% sure, but i think it is due there today, so by the time you read this, should be on site, and yes, we have had 92212 before, in 2000 and also 92220 in 1983 i think!

However the 9F wasn't responsible for the landslip.
