The body of a young man was discovered yesterday early afternoon about a mile north of Bury Bolton St Station on the East Lancs Railway.

The body has been 'run-over' by 'Leander', but the police are still uncertain as to the exact circumstances surrounding the incident, suicide has not yet at this stage been ruled out. The police were treating it as a crime scene, Passengers travelling on the 2.50pm Bury to Rawtenstall service were ordered by police to stay on the carriages for two hours after the man's body was discovered between Bury and Summerseat.

S.O.C.O. have just this afternoon agreed to the body being removed from the scene.

Further information will be posted when recieved.

A CARING dad was killed on the East Lancashire Railway line following a tragic mishap while out walking.

It is believed Mr Francis Joseph Miller fell and hit his head on the tracks, knocking him unconscious, while out on a Sunday afternoon stroll.

Moments later, a tourist-packed locomotive hauled train on East Lancashire Railway's Bury to Rawtenstall line hit him. He died instantly from multiple injuries.

My thought and feelings go out to his family.

It does bring to mind the question that people should take extreme care whilst on the railways.
wether you are there to do your job or out for a walk. Railways are dangerous places.
If you are out walking and see a railway line, even if it seems to be unused, Please find a
    sutable foot or road crossing.

I do hope people reading this will see this tragic accident and learn lessons from it.
