A Day out with a Beattie Well Tank

I missed out on seeing the Beatties around Wadebridge, but a recreation of a short freight charter on the Dean Forest Railway is as close as you can get over 50 years later. This is railway preservation at its best. The added bonus was the service trains being operated by another loco common in North Cornwall, the T9 so with the cooperation of the crew a shot could be set up with both locos.

The charter was run either side of the timetabled trains so leaving home at 4.30 am and not getting back till 10 pm made for a long day but worth it.

Thank you, there was a similar location on the Wenford Bridge Line just by the level crossing so this is my favourite. Just a pity the sun wasn't out for the evening session
