Safely arrived at Shildon - loads of folk out to see the locos. I had to go shortly after the shunt of the whole consist onto Locomotion's metals, but it looked as though the J72 was going to have the honour of shunting Mallard into the yard proper

I have never seen so many folk out, every vantage point at the side of the ECML was full over one hour before the loco's came past
just think of the size of the crowd had Mallard been under its own steam

Yes I am an active volunteer
Had a lovely day today, catched 60163 & 4468 at Shipton, Northallerton & Shildon after a bit of fast driving...

I have however forgotten to bring my connections from the camcorder to a computer to Sunderland so I can't download anything till I return back to Leeds on Friday...

If that's out on the main line, it'll be my boss. And she wasn't wearing trainers. She has full PTS and was chaperoning the prize winner - but her Hi vis is orange, not yellow, so therefore, it might be Helen, but doesn't sound like it.

Thanks Andrew - I had not realised the significance of the pairing until I saw your captions - that when the A4 last steamed on the main line, the A1 did not exist! How grateful should we be for our fantastic railway heritage movement!
