On Wednesday 30th August 2023 a major milestone was achieved with our Boilershop carrying out the official out of frames steam test on 60532 Blue Peter's Boiler, witnessed and passed off by our boiler inspector.
After an extensive overhaul, the boiler was slowly brought round to its full working pressure of 250psi and will now be fitted with insulation lagging and the outer cladding before being refitted to the frames.
Massive congratulations to our entire Boilershop team, Production Manager Mark O'Brien, Divisional Manager Richard Watkins and everybody involved. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

It was mentioned in Steam Railway a few months ago. That LSL hoped for Blue Peter to move to the SVR in February to start running in. Haven't seen any news of that move so far. Hopefully it's not long until we see the A2 return.

    On the 6233 thread
The A2, the A4 and the Duke will all be in the LSL pool, plus possibly the King as well. Will they be running enough tours to make use of all of them?

Is being in that pool an exclusivity arrangement ? For any particular tour you might want to promote a particular Locomotive, ensure that you have another equal to the task on standby, and you may have more than one tour on a given weekend at different parts of the country - so thats 3 or4 'Needed'. Not aware of their tickets but Royal Scot, Brittannia and Braunton brings that up to 6 and although its likely that at any one time one or two of them will be undergoing repairs would imagine that there might be locomotives available to cover Tours for some of the less well 'resourced' Tocs in the event of a failure. |?

60007 is available for hire by anyone else, on the proviso it doesn't affect the pre-planned LSL programme.

No specific mention of 60532's current status there that I can see, unless I've misunderstood that thread or I'm misinterpreting your reply in which case apologies. I'd also been wondering when/whether it would appear on SVR metals.

The post that I quoted from the other thread mentions several locos including the A2. It prompted me to wonder whether there will be enough work for all of them. Post #864 suggests that there will be.

Historically accurate or not, blue in one shade or another always looks good on a steam loco, I find.

Locomotive Services Group have released a short video of Blue Peter and it's staff. It's available on Facebook. Boy, does it look good. [BJ]

Looks like it's retained both it's whistles too going by the video I posted and the one in the LSL Facebook. 60532 is loco I've yet to experience or see (although my Grandad did a tour behind her over the S&C), so looking forward seeing if I can catch a trip on the main line myself.
