ADIF awards Antequera-Granada HSL contracts

Spain’s transport ministry and the country’s infrastructure manager, ADIF, have awarded several contracts worth almost €240 million to accelerate work on a new high-speed railway between Antequera and Granada.

Siemens Rail Automation and Thales have won the largest of the three contracts – a €208.7 million order for the installation and maintenance of traffic management and S&T (signalling and telecommunications) systems.

An Emte, Vimac and Neopol Sociedade Studies and Construçoes joint venture has been awarded a €19.4 million contract for catenary equipment along the 114.5-kilometre route. Finally, ADIF announced the launch of two ballast contracts worth a combined €10.7 million.

The new high-speed link will connect Granada to the Madrid-Sevilla line and develop new high-speed connections to Sevilla and Córdoba.

In a separate announcement, ADIF issued a €204 million competition to maintain overhead lines, electrical substations and associated electrification systems for more than 2,300 kilometres of the Spanish rail network.

The 10-year contract includes the high-speed Madrid-Seville, Córdoba-Málaga and La Sagra-Toledo routes and the Madrid-Zaragoza-Barcelona-French border line.
