ADIF completes €4.9m catenary renewal

Spanish infrastructure manager ADIF has completed a major renewal of the overhead wires between Barcena de Pie de Concha – Torrelavega.

Catenary equipment has been completely replaced along the 15-kilometre stretch of railway between Barcena and Los Corrales stations.

A total of 23.5 kilometres of OLE will be renewed as part of a €4.9 million project to improve the infrastructure and operational performance on the Palencia-Santander line.

More than 700 foundations and 500 new gantries have been installed using a specialist wiring train.
